Waking up Saturday morning, August 13th was glorious. We had successfully navigated through the Canandian waters, cleared US Customs, fixed an engine problem, and were floating in US waters. The forecast was for sunshine and calm winds and we traveled 41 miles going past Mackinac Island to the St. Ignace, MI marina where we topped off the fuel tanks and found a restaurant close by for some... On the eastern end of the North Channel we entered the community of Killarney, Ontario and stayed at the Mountain Lodge Resort & Marina on Friday, August 5. Quite a large group of looper boats had arrived at Killarney and we had a "Docktail" gathering of about 20 people. All of the boaters ran out of boat business cards to exchange with each other and the suggestion was made that for large... Read full post
The journey through the Trent Severn waterway was worth waiting two extra years for Canada to open up its waterways to US boaters. We left Trenton Ontario, on Monday, July 19 at 8:30 AM to get into position for the first lock. Things went smoothly and we traveled through nine more locks choosing to tie up for the night on the Lock 11 entrance Wall. The Canadian locks designate a waiting area... Read full post
This entry begins with us still running on the Erie Canal. Our stopover on July 4 was in Little Falls, NY. There we caught up with friends Jeff and Cathy, on Serendipity, and late in the day friends Roger and Jane, on Jolly Roger IX, showed up. We squeezed them in on the tiny town dock wall that we were tied to. The next day included running across Lake Oneida, about 20 miles from East to West... Read full post
Cape May, New Jersey...an area we had barely ever heard of, but what a pleasant surprise! We arrived on Friday, June 17, into South Jersey Marina after an uneventful 65-mile voyage down the Delaware River. We were going to only stay one night but the winds were howling which forced us to stay put for two additional days. The open Atlantic Ocean for the next 150 miles definitely lets you know... Linda is excited to be adding states that she has never visited before to her list and this leg of the journey has definitely facilitated that goal!
A month ago we left Southport, NC and headed to Morehead City, NC with one stop in between at Hampstead, NC. In Morehead, we were able to reconnect with friends from our dock in Ft. Myers, Louis and Diane. What gracious hosts they were!... Read full post

Our last entry had us heading north, up the East Coast past Jacksonville FL and Brunswick GA and looking forward to Savannah. We arrived in Savannah on Wednesday, April 13. As we looked out our boat window at the ICW we could see the bend in the water just outside the marina where we would once again navigate new waterways. We were very excited to... Read full post
May of 2021 was our last post when we temporarily stopped our Great Loop Adventure due to Canadian borders being closed. So here is a quick recap of what happened during the “pause.”
We made it back to McFarland the first week of June 2021 and immediately got into all of our appointments and check-ups, including Conrad’s total hip replacement the first week of July. He was home the... Read full post
Our last blog post, about two months ago, had us heading from Titusville FL to Ponce Inlet, a short run. This would not normally have been a stopping point, but our good friends, Gary and Kathi's, daughter and family and in-laws were spending some time at this hidden gem of an ocean beach town. We spent 4 days there and it was fun to catch up with Brittney, Chris, Ellenore and Simon, and... Read full post
